Acing It

Welcome to the first Blog Hop of 2017. In this, the 5th birthday of the Imbolc Hop, our wrangler has asked us:

How can I best foster the energy of the Aces in my life?

Well, I did laugh when I read that, but before I explain why, here are the usual navigation links to enable you to move through the Hop posts:

So, why did I find the topic funny? Because, it just so happens that my short term goal for creating this deck has been to complete the Aces. The Aces have featured in two of my last three hop posts and I slid in another Ace in between, which only leave one more and I had that planned as the next card. So, in my case, I am fostering the energy of the Aces in a totally literal way, which seems to happen to me quite a lot with the Tarot ๐Ÿ˜€

You may have noticed that I’ve stalled slightly since the original burst of creativity at the start of my journey in creating this deck. Sometimes things leap out at me and I get them done quickly, other times I have difficulty finding the time to set up the scene as I want it, and then there is the general business of life getting in the way. Other times, as with the Ace of Cups, I see something that is just perfect and the whole process from inspiration to completion is over in minutes (well, maybe an hour or two by the time I’m happy with the final card).

I’m not at all sure where the time has gone, but I seem to have been thinking about this card for months without actually getting around to doing it. I have had the vision of what I want quite clearly in my mind for ages and just never seem to find a moment to set up the photo (or dig the “sword” out of the loft, where it currently lives). I meant to do it last week when the sky was nice and blue, but I wanted some clouds and there were none at all. This week, there are nothing but clouds and rain… lots and lots of rain… and as I write this, two one* days before we go live, I’m panicking about whether I will have to “green screen” an image and photoshop in a sky ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

A day A few hours* to go and I still haven’t taken the photo. The sky is dark, the rain so bad that I’ve had to change clothes after walking the dog and the only Ace of Swords energy going on here is a desperate attempt to communicate my plight ๐Ÿ™

But lo, what is this strange brightness in the sky? 2pm and the sun has peeked through the cloud cover, but still not much blue. I wrestle my way into the loft, grab the sword, grab the camera and in the 10 minute window, where miraculously the merest hint of blue shows itself, I took this:

That was the first one I took and the clouds rolled in fairly quickly after. And there you have it. Some sort of energy manifests at the last minute to bring you the final card in the Aces series. Thank you Ace energy!

Here are the other Aces:

*Totally misread the launch date for this hop and thought I had another day. Way to go, Ace energy, or I’d have had nothing but good intentions to share with you ๐Ÿ˜€

  1. Beautiful cards! I love that you managed to capture the only bit of blue sky amidst so much cloudiness and rain! Each of your Aces captures the appropriate energy and they are lovely to look at. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Aaaw, I love these cards, wow, and your Ace of Swords is purrrfect! But all of them are lovely, and I love your sense of humor! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I was already laughing out loud when I got to the brilliant line: “A day A few hours* to go and I still havenโ€™t taken the photo. The sky is dark, the rain so bad that Iโ€™ve had to change clothes after walking the dog and the only Ace of Swords energy going on here is a desperate attempt to communicate my plight ?” I’m glad the heavens parted in response to your plea and offered you such a perfect photo op!!

  4. ”Tis is completely brilliant! The saturated colors, the perfect images for the suit and elements. I am so looking forward to being able to read and enjoy the images in your cards. Aces done!

  5. Love that this has been so literal for you, in terms of Ace inspiration! ๐Ÿ™‚
And that the weather played ball with you and allowed you to capture that glorious image of the Ace of Swords! ๐Ÿ™‚
